She had found one, a piano,
in a room very near the Muggle Studies classroom on the first floor. Promise
decided that it made sense. It was a Muggle instrument after all they probably
used it for class.
She sat down on the bench after removing the covers over them. She set her
fingers on the keys without pushing down for a few moments just enjoying their
coolness against her warm fingers. It felt good to sit there. She really loved
to play and sing...she was lucky she did, really. Her mother was determined to
make her 'wonderful in the arts' when she was a child and had her painting,
playing, singing, dancing, etc. from the time she was young. Lucky for her
she'd actually enjoyed most of it. She didn't like most dancing that much, only
if it was something spunky like swing or salsa. She never really liked
Ballet...her mother was disappointed.
After a few moments she ran through a scale and was surprised to hear that the
piano was perfectly in tune, it must have been charmed.
She warmed up a bit then
picked up her wand. "Accio Piano Classics No. 3 and Italian Arias"
When the books came to her she flipped the piano classics to Impromptu Op.90
Number 2. It was a very ambitious piece for a girl who hadn't even touched a
piano for two months, but she used to have it almost memorized. It was
incredibly difficult, but she'd been determined to learn it when she was a
fourth year and by God she did.
After a couple songs on the piano she opened her Italian aria book and thought.
She wondered if she wanted to sing or not, but when she came across the song
Sebben Crudele she couldn't help it. She played the intro a couple of times and
tested her pitch then began to sing.
Promise had a beautiful, honey sweet, smooth soprano voice that rang about the
room and almost seemed to dance with the piano music but it was such a sad song
she'd elected to sing.
Though the song had a sad sound it also seemed as if it had a bit of hope...
Sebben crudele mi fai languir.
Sebben crudele mi fai languir.
Sempre fedele, sempre fedele ti voglio amar.
Sebben crudele mi fai languir.
Sempre fedele ti voglio amar.
Sebben crudele mi fai languir.
Sempre fedele ti voglio amar.
Con la lunghezza del mio servir.
La tua firezza, la tua firezza,
Sapro stancar.
La tua firezza sapro stancar.
Sebben crudele mi fai languir.
Sebben crudele mi fai languir.
Sempre fedele, sempre fedele ti voglio amar.
Sebben crudele mi fai languir.
Sempre fedele ti voglio amar.
Sebben crudele mi fai languir.
Sempre fedele ti voglio amar.
Promise stopped and smiled at Charm who was purring, the little cat adored that
song, sad as it was.
[[Translation for those of you whose characters are supposed to speak italian:
Tho' not deserving Thy cruel scorn,
Ever unswerving, ever unswerving Thee only I love
Tho' not deserving Thy cruel scorn,
Ever unswerving Thee only I love
Tho' not deserving Thy cruel scorn,
Ever unswerving Thee only I love
When to thee kneeling All I have borne
Thy pride unfeeling, Thy pride unfeeling I then shall move
Thy pride unfeeling I then shall move

Cho arrived at the Great Hall for dinner but
decided to skip it once she got to the front doors, because it all seemed to
intimidating for her at the moment. Her eyes were still puffy, and she still
had that look on her face. The one where you could tell she was upset over
something.
She was on her way back into her room when she heard the piano playing and a
voice that was so good, she just had to see who it was. She opened the door to
the room and found Promise sitting at the piano.
She walked inside quietly and shut the door making sure Promise didn’t hear
her. She walked up beside the piano Promise was playing and laid her head down
on it listening to Promise and waiting for her to finish her song.
Promise let the last notes of the song fade from
her lips before she even noticed Cho was there. She jumped a little, for she
hadn't expected anyone to be sitting there.
"Cho!" she exclaimed, startled then noticed the look on the girl's face.
Her look of shock turned to one of concern and she turned her head slightly,
her long dark hair falling over her shoulder, "What's wrong, Cho? Are you
alright?"
"Nothing anymore...just a bad day…"
Cho smiled.
Promise gave her a gentle smile and patted her
hair, "Well I hope everything is ok now."
