* * * * * * *

Molly busied herself in the kitchen. She checked the clock and hoped that "traveling" meant the twins would arrive soon. She knew that Arthur might be late. The Ministry had called him in yet again for something or other. Still Bill and Fleur should be coming. She was anxious to see them again. Just to hear some noise in the house would be a relief. It had been so dreafully quiet.

Fleur adjusted her hair in the mirror one last time. "Bill, 'ar you ready?" she called to him as he came rushing in the living room. He nodded and they both apparated from the small flat in which they were living.

They arrived at the burrow a second later. Fleur knocked on the door, out of habit. She and Bill grasped hands as they waited.

Molly opened the door. "There you are! Both yourselves? Oh, let's see what some stupid question I could ask. Bill, what did you use to call your old teddy bear?"

Fleur gave Bill a curious look, who in turn did blush a little as she smiled at him. "Teddy-Ted" he replied. Fleur couldn't help but let out a small giggle at his answer.

"Come on in," Molly said warmly. "If you can't tell whether or not Fleur is Fleur, there's certainly no hope for me. Still think it's nonsense actually, but Arthur insists. No matter, dinner’s just about ready.  Have a seat.  The twins should be here any moment."

CRRAACCKK!

The Twins appeared inside the Burrow and straightened up a bit. They had apparated into their old bedroom. Fred wanted to nick a few old notes he had hidden in between his mattress about a gag he had wanted to invent (invisible Bludgers) over a year ago, around the time their mum was going through their stuff and binning it all.

Fred had found it, still wedged underneath the bed, just like he had left it. He shoved the torn paper into his front coat pocket, and he and George decided to use the stairs this time around and made their way to where sounds of Mum, Fleur and Bill were coming from.

They appeared behind Molly and cheerfully waved at Bill and Fleur.

Molly heard footsteps behind her and turned sharply, putting her hand to her heart when she saw the twins. "My goodness, you did give me a start. Well, wash your hands, and we'll be ready to eat." She stepped forward and gave each twin a quick hug.

They hugged back, rolling their eyes behind her.  They were adults now, with a lucrative business for Merlin's sake! Did she really feel the need to baby them so?

Bill saw his two twin brothers apparate themselves to the dining room. He went forward to greet them.  "Hiya, Fred & George. How’re things down at your joke shop?" he asked.

"Hiya, Bill!" they both chimed.

"Business is brilliant, brother!" said George.
"Couldn't be better!" lied Fred.

The truth was, business was slow. The Twins, however, would be the last two people in Wizardom to admit that out loud.

"Well, that's good to hear," said Molly. "I don't see how anyone can justify spending money on fake wands these days. I supposed that defense line is doing well though?"

"More than you know, mum" reassured George.

"Seems to be our most popular item, " ended Fred.

George added thoughtfully with a chuckle, "Those, and the Extendable Ears".

Bill looked at Molly with a curious face. He asked, "What have you prepared for this special dinner, Mother?"

Molly gave her eldest a warm smile. "Nothing all that special," she said modestly. "I've got a roast and some greens and potatoes and rolls and a couple of meat pies and dressing and a pudding tucked away somewhere for later."

"So mother, how is the Order going, any progress tackling those Death Eaters?" Bill asked.

Fred and George both happily remembered eavesdropping in on the Order's meetings a few years back using that great invention.

"You, guys... I’m glad that you have found your place in life." Bill said happily to the twins.

"We are too, Bill" smiled George.

"How's married life treatin' ya?" asked Fred, more curious about Bill than Fleur.

Molly pursed her lips. She still thought those extendable ears were a bad business, but she wanted to hear how Bill and Fleur were getting on more than she wanted to scold the twins.

"Like a Charm," Bill replied. "Everyday when I’m with Fleur it’s like being in cloud nine, it’s so wonderful. But sometimes I ask myself if it isn’t too perfect? If it's just an illusion? But then Fleur approaches, and.... you know the rest." Bill said with a dreamful gaze in his eyes.

"Well, she's part Veela for Merlin's sake--" started Fred.

George unnoticeably nudged him in his side and Fred tried to stifle a snort.

"Er...that's great Bill, " said George in a slightly queasy manner.

The last thing the Twins wanted to hear about was what was making Bill so glassy-eyed.  But, at least he was happy. That was saying something.

Molly ushered them towards the table. "Come on, let's tuck in," she said, seeming to ignore Bill's question about the Death Eaters for a moment before coming back to it. "I think we've lost a bit of nerve what with what happened to Dumbledore and all, but Minerva's been pulling things together. The Ministry executed that Death Eater they caught, Yaxley, though I'm not quite sure what good it will do. But I suppose they had to do something," she added grimly. She fidgeted with her napkin. There were other things bothering her, but she could save them for later.

"At least we are not on a standstill" Bill replied. "Mother, I know that this may come as an unorthodox request, but I think it might help the order a bit. If Fleur has no objections, may she join the order? I think that we could use a French ally..."

"Of course, Bill," Molly said. "I've already been discussing it with her."

"Thanks, mum! You’re the greatest," Bill replied and gave Molly a warm hug.

At this the Twins had lost their appetite. They couldn't believe their ears.

"MUM," protested Fred, "but WE'RE not even in the Order!"

"Yeah, " added George in a disagreeable tone, "and when were you planning on asking us?"

The Twins stared at their mother waiting for a response.

Molly looked slightly confused. "Hasn't Arthur talked to you about it?" Molly shook her head. "You'll have to forgive him boys. He's been overwhelmed at work. Of course now that you're of age and out of school, we think you'd be valuable members of the Order." Molly stopped and pursed her lips. Her maternal instinct wanted them as far from the fight as possible, but her better judgment said the Order would prepare them.

They exchanged pleased smiles.

"Brilliant!" said the Twins in unison.

"It's about time, " said Fred.

"Yeah, dad hadn't talked to us about it...then again, maybe he did and we never got the owl. Verity has been cleaning the shop like mad lately and a few items go missing now and again, " explained George.

Bill was enjoying his dinner with the rest of the family, but he knew that he would regret it, if he didn't ask this question: "Mother, have you heard anything from that git Percy?"

George rolled his eyes in disgust, while Fred choked and spit up some of his pumpkin juice.

"Well, you've gone and ruined a perfectly good meal, Bill!" said Fred

"Yeah, thanks, I've lost my appetite, " reaffirmed George.

The Twins were oblivious to any sort of negative reaction this might bring from their mum, but they noticed Bill staring at her, waiting for her response.

"That GIT shouldn't be brought up during meals," said the Twins, now turned to their mum as well.

"But he is our brother after all, isn’t he?" Bill looked at the twins with a face if not of anger, at least of confusion. "And if I don’t forgive him then no one will.  At least I have not given up on him..."

"That's right," Molly said stiffly. "Percy is still a part of this family, and we will welcome him back when he is ready to come back. To answer your question Bill, no I haven't heard from him. And I would thank you all very much not to refer to him as git in front of me. Now, let's leave off this subject for now"

"Good idea, Mother dearest. Let’s eat," Bill said, as he took a bite of dinner..

"I didn't know you could still be part of a family that you, on your own free will, decide to LEAVE, " said Fred as he pushed the food around on his plate.

George sighed and started to eat, but talk of the git truly made their skin crawl. Just because they were brothers by blood did not mean anything else.

Molly stubbornly ignored Fred's remark and took a bite of dinner. "Bill, sit back down," she ordered. "You've barely touched your food. Honestly. Did you know that Malfoy boy has one of those computer journal things. He nearly talked Promise into meeting him...you remember she was the pretty dark haired girl at the wedding, my old penpal's daughter, oh nevermind. I found him replying to Ron's the other day, and Ron never did get back to me on whether he made a habit of it. And then all this mess with Professor Chang, I honestly would be ready to bring Ron and Ginny home if Minerva hadn't returned to the school."

"Ginny also got messages from Malfoy. Even though I don’t know what they said, I got worried. What does Draco want with Ginny?" Bill asked confounded

Molly's eyes went wide with concern. "Ginny? She never said anything. Why didn't you tell me this sooner?"

"I didn’t want to worry you, mum. Seeing that Ginny broke up with Harry, I didn’t want to cause alarm, that’s all," Bill replied.

"I'll have to have a word with her," Molly said tersely. She caught Fred playing with his food. "Eat up, Fred. Starving yourself won't fix anything."

Bill couldn’t do anything more than laugh at Fred. He thought that Fred was too old to play with his food, but oh well... "It has been a wonderful dinner, Mom. See ya tomorrow," Bill said and took Fleur’s hand.
