My beautiful Cho,

I hope you are having a good time teaching your students at Hogwarts. I always knew you’d be some type of teacher, and you were a wonderful quidditch player, so teaching that is good too. I wanted to apologize for the things I said the night before you left. I should have been more sensitive to what you wanted instead of making up your life for my pleasure.

Franklin has been writing me alot lately. He talks about being with the Malfoy boy and putting his electrical skills to work for the Dark Lord. He says, if you ever change your mind about your life, that you should contact him. He really cares about you. and he was dissapointed that you changed you mind last minute. In every letter he writes me and asks about you and asks me to persuade you to come and stay with him. Well, if you change your mind, you know who to tell .

Love,
Mom

Cho crumpled up the letter and threw it on the ground. She knew what path she wanted. She never wanted to be anything to the Dark Lord. Her mother just wanted a guaranteed life. But what she did not understand is that even if Cho had gone, she would still not have a guaranteed life.

Cho felt angry and confused and decided just to get up and take a walk, but as soon as she left her room, the tears started pouring. They were so bad she could not see so she just sat down in the middle of the corridor, waiting until the tears stopped pouring.

Closing the book he was looking at, Ron sighed and got up, ready to head back to the common room. Distractedly, he walked towards the Gryffindor tower. Turning the corner, he immediately ran into someone. Looking up, Ron was a bit surprised to see who he'd ran into.

"Cho...er, Professor? Are you ok?"

Cho felt someone bump into her, but she couldn’t make out the figure of who it was until she wiped her eyes multiple times. She knew they had called her professor, but she was so upset she didn’t even bother to give them her speech on her name. When her eyes were finally clear, she turned around and said, "Yeah I’m fine...sorry I just…"  She turned back to face Ron "I got a letter from my mom."  She shrugged. "It upset me."

Ron awkwardly put his hand on her arm. "Want to, uh, talk about it?" he asked.

Cho glanced down at his arm on her shoulder. This was awkward. Could she tell him? Could she trust him? This wasn’t exactly the way she wanted to tell someone what was wrong, but it was the only opportunity. No one else had asked her, and Ron was her friend…sort of.

She looked at the floor, thinking for a moment and then said, "Hold on." and went into her room real fast and brought back the letter to Ron and sat down patting the spot on the floor next to her. She handed the letter to Ron, waiting for his response.

Ron took the letter from her and sat down, bringing his knees up to his chest while reading the letter. As he read the letter, his mouth slowly dropped open until he was gaping at it. Turning to Cho, he looked at her. "Is she serious? I...I," he stuttered. "Why in the world would she be ok with you joining You-Know-Who? That's not something most parents of non-Slytherin students want their children to aspire to."

"She wanted me to be in Slytherin. She was disappointed when I got put in Ravenclaw. My whole life she and my uncle has this plan for me, to be a Death Eater with my uncle. Well now, my uncle is a Death Eater…but I chose here. I chose you guys." Cho felt a load off of her shoulders when she told Ron this. "I was really going to go be a Death Eater. I was going to obey my mother. At the beginning of summer I said yes, that I’d go. That’s why she got so upset when I told her about coming here to teach. She only wanted me to be a Death Eater so her life would be guaranteed." More tears came to Cho’s eyes but she wiped them before they clouded her eyesight.

Ron sat there, not really knowing what to say to the crying girl. "Well, you definitely made the right decision," Ron said quietly. "I'm sorry, Cho. I really just don't know what to say," he continued, meekly.

"That’s okay Ron. I probably wouldn’t know what to think or say if someone told me this. No big deal. Just try to keep it to yourself.  If you want to tell Hermione and Harry…I don’t mind…but just don’t give them the wrong idea. And make sure that they don’t tell anyone else if you do tell them." Cho sniffed and wiped the tears still coming down her face one more time and looked Ron in the eyes waiting for a response

"Don't worry about it, Cho. I won't tell anyone. Your secret is very safe with me," he said, pushing off of the ground and getting up. Extending out his hand, he helped Cho up. "I have to get back to the Gryffindor common room. Prefect duties call. Do you want me to walk you back to your room?"

Cho stood up with the help of Ron, and said "No thanks, I’ll be okay from here." she gave Ron a big hug and when she pulled away she said, "Thanks for talking with me. I don’t think anyone has ever helped me more in my whole entire life." Cho hugged him again and said, "See you around" and walked away
