Title: Luca’s Offer

Hermione sat in the Gryffindor common room with Luca’s letter addresed to herself, Ginny, and Harry . She wouldn`t open it until Ginny and Harry arrived so she just sat in the common room eavesdopping on other students talking while she waited for harry and ginny to arrive so she could read the letter with them.

Harry saw Hermione in the corridor, with a letter in her hand. He asked immediately: "Does it say any interesting...?"

"Wouldn’t know…I haven’t read it yet. I’m waiting for you and Ginny," she said staring at the envelope

"Hey," Ginny replied, looking from Hermione to Harry, "What's going on?"

"Hey, Ginny," Hermione said, directing her attention from the envelope to Ginny’s confused expression. "We got an owl from Luca addressed to all three of us. When I got it, I wanted to open it, but I decided to just wait for you guys. I’m sure it’s nothing important…right?" Hermione said looking at the both of them for support. "Let’s open it!" Hermione said eagerly opening the envelope without even asking Ginny and Harry first. She read aloud:

"Dear Mr. Potter, Ms Granger and Ms. Weasley,

I am sure you have heard of my plight by now, my own house seeks to ruin my reputation as it begins. I know you have had a bad time with my house in the past, but these are dangerous times ahead. I feel we must unite against a mutual enemy, I think we all know who that is.

I do not expect you to trust me after the events of the first week, but as I'm sure you know, Malcolm has already confessed to his deed. It is Zabini I am sure of it who is trying to turn the houses, and even teachers by now against me. I doubt he will succeed in the latter, but I do hope you will tell people that I am not to blame.

I have sent this letter to the three of you, please keep knowledge of it amongst yourselves, and I offer my sincerest gratitude to you all.

She looked at Harry and Ginny waiting for a response before she put in her own two cents.

Harry was shocked. Here a day ago Hermione had convinced Harry to keep an eye at Luca, and now he tried to convince him, Ginny and Hermione that he was trustworthy? "I don’t now about you, Ginny and Hermione, but Luca’s right. We should try to unite against Voldemort, even if it seems impossible..."

Hermione stared at Harry with a blank look on her face and said, "Are you trying to get Luca involved with what you, Ron, and I are doing? I mean we haven’t even known him that long and after the events of last week I am not going to trust him as well as I have before. Especially not with the lives of the people we love. That what this mission is Harry, it’s making sure that the lives of the people we love are guaranteed." Hermione stopped to take a breath. "I mean, I could understand Ginny, or Neville or someone we know better and have known for a long time going, but …Harry…do you understand how important this is?" Hermione stared at him with an angry face waiting for an answer

Harry look puzzled at Hermione’s angry reply. He said after a moment of silence: "I’m not asking Luca for helping our Horcrux search, if that’s what you meant. I’m just trying to say that Luca maybe one of the few good Slytherins out there, and we should instead of giving him the cold shoulder, try to convince him that we are fighting for a noble cause, that’s all.”
