Blaise decided he'd be least likely to run into any visitors if he went early in the morning, so before breakfast he strolled up to the hospital wing. He checked to make sure no one he knew was hanging about, then pointed his wand at his hand. "Floris" he muttered, conjuring a bouquet of flowers.

He walked up to Madam Pomfrey. "I'm here to see Ginny Weasley," he said softly. Pomfrey directed him over to one of the beds, and he walked up to Ginny and sat down on the stool beside her bed. "Good morning."

Ginny sat up in her hospital bed, looking very confusedly at the boy who looked just like Blaise Zabini that had just stopped by to visit her in the hospital wing. But it couldn't have been Blaise, because that didn't even begin to make sense. "Good morning," Ginny responded, furrowing her brow at the unanticipated visitor.

Blaise checked over his shoulder to see that Madam Pomfrey had returned to her office and chucked the flowers in the bin by the bed. "So how bad is it?" he asked glancing at her bandaged arm.

Ginny was slightly taken aback by his bluntness, but shrugged her shoulders and extended her forearm for him to see. "Mostly first and second," she replied, circling the bandage and indicating the outer part, "But Pomfrey thinks there are some smaller patches in the middle that may be third, since I can't really feel them. Otherwise, it hurts like hell. Why?" She asked, giving him a suspicious look. Perhaps he'd had something to do with the explosion.

"Polite to ask," Blaise said. He was enjoying this far too much. Besides the fact that it supported his theory that Draco had a reason for wanting him at Hogwarts, Ginny had clearly been thrown off balance by his appearance. And, looking at Ginny Weasley had never induced eyestrain in anyone. "Any idea who tried to do you in?"

Ginny gave Blaise another suspicious glance.  "I guess so. But it does seem more like the sort of thing one does with their friends," she replied, settling into a more comfortable position on the bed before regarding his unusual question.

"No idea. Not sure that they were even trying to do me in, actually. Figure it was a Gryffindor, but I guess I can't be sure."

"What was it that blew?" Blaise asked, halfway between disappointed and intrigued.

"Something I thought was some sort of deranged clay. It was sort of spitting and sparking a bit. Why I confiscated it in the fist place. Tried to take it to McGonagall, and it exploded," she explained, tucking hair behind her ear in an agitated manner.

"Who did you confiscate it from?" Blaise asked. He was back to simply being intrigued.

"Some fourth year, I don't know his name or where he got it from. I'd just busted him for about a crate full of Fred and George's stuff, and found this on him. Asked him what it did; he said he didn't know. Apparently, it explodes." Ginny replied, leaning back on her stack of pillows.

"He should be questioned more thoroughly," Blaise said thoughtfully. "What does he look like?"

"Yeah, he probably should if I can find him again. Though he may really not have had anything to do with it," She said with a shrug, "Short, dark hair, sort of messy, on the short side, wearing red trainers and I nearly called him on uniform."

Blaise nodded, making a mental note to find the kid and question him. He already felt a certain dislike for the boy...red trainers. "Even so, he might know where it came from."

"Well, yeah, it came from wherever he got it from, in all likelihood. It wasn't anything of my brothers, though, I'll tell you that. Don't know what a fourth year would be doing with explosives, in any case." Ginny added, finding that she was growing rather more irritated with the boy as she spoke.

Blaise realized he was smiling. Ginny seemed to be getting irritated with his questions, but she was answering them easily enough. It wasn't exactly an answer to the mystery but at least he had plenty to tell Draco.

He was smiling, which struck Ginny as sort of sadistic, but she decided to let it slide. Draco wouldn't have been keen on her picking fights with his close friends, anyway. "Any other questions? Need my favorite color?"

Blaise raised an eyebrow. Damn pity the girl had turned her back on her heritage. She was funny. "Pink right?" he said on the off chance he might guess. "No, I think that's it. Unless, there was some of that clay left over? Might be worth having Slughorn analyze it."

"But of course," Ginny replied with a half smile, "You know, there may still be some in my bag. Covered in bits of book, or something. Do you think Slughorn would look it over for me and see what that stuff was?"

"You're in the Slugclub, right?" Blaise said. "I'm sure he'd be happy to."

"Yeah, I am," she replied, "I suppose I'll try that, then. Thanks."

"Let me know if he finds anything," Blaise said, getting to his feet. "See you around," he said and walked out of the ward.
