Lucius awoke, as he always did, around sunrise. He had always been a morning person and never failed to awaken just as the first tendrils of sunlight struck the sky with color. Careful not to wake Narcissa ,their amorous encounter the previous evening had surely tired her out, he quickly showered and dressed. Taking a book from the few which Narcissa had transplanted from the Manor, Lucius moved out of their bedroom and into the hall where he stopped. Were he at home, he naturally would have headed directly for his study, there to spend a good morning reading and researching, but he did not have a study here and for the moment he was lost as to where he ought to go. Then he remembered the small office which was tucked in one corner of the house near Draco's room and eagerly headed in that direction. As he passed his son's room, he stopped again, this time, almost regretting what he had said the previous night. He shrugged, reasoning that he really ought to look in on his son, considering the state he had been in and gently pushed his door open. Of course, he knew that Draco would dislike the intrusion, but assuming the boy was asleep, which he surely would be, as he was not the early riser that Lucius was, he would never know.

Lucius glanced inside, surprised that the window's drapes were not closed and blocking out the sun as Draco usually preferred but instead were wide open, while the window threw the long shadows of morning across the room, illuminating the empty and still well made bed. Lucius shrugged and slipped the door closed as he turned to continue down the hall, wondering what had caused Draco to rise so early and Lucius moved down the hall. Again, he stopped, this time near a small stairwell.

"Rhina, come here." His voice was quiet, but commanding and nearly immediately followed by a quiet pop as a house-elf with a giant nose appeared.

"Yes, master?" The elf's hands were clutched together in-front of its chest, obviously expecting a physical attack.

"Rhina, where is Draco?"

The elf bowed, nearly touching its nose to the floor and there was a second pop as the creature disappeared, reappearing moments later, this time appearing far more agitated than it had been and Lucius watched the creature physically shake as it bowed again.

"Master Draco . . . Master Draco did not return last night."

Lucius' cane whipped out and the snake's head hooked the small creature under the chin.

"Where did he go?" The question was pushed between clenched teeth and Rhina  did her best to shake her head.

"Rhina doesn't know." The animal seemed to brace itself for the oncoming assault as Lucius' cane struck out, knocking the creature down the stairwell and nearly roaring with anger, Lucius turned and sprinted through the house towards Snape's chambers.

Within moments he was slamming the snake's head of his cane against Severus' door and it was all he could do to stop himself from pounding down the door and throttling the man as he slept. Were it not for the certain knowledge of the charms which were cast on the door, he would have. Somehow this was all Snape's fault and at the moment, Lucius did not think there could be any good reason as to why his son had been put in danger while that man slept comfortably behind his door.

Blast! Blast! Blast! Snape ran and ran as some shadowy figure casted numerous hexes his way, but continually missed. "Would you stop that ridiculous wand waving!? I'm on your side!"

He woke with a start, bringing his hand to his forehead trying to make the noises go away, finally he realized it wasn't the dream he was continuing to hear. He flipped his legs out and onto the floor before bringing up the rest of his body up.

"Sartorlagen" he snapped. His regular attire flew onto his body at once. He rubbed his eyes, and unwarded his door. He paused a moment.

When Snape opened the door it revealed a very sleepy and understandably surly Snape and it was all that Lucius could do to hold himself from grabbing the man by his damned starched collar and shaking him until his son's absence was explained. Instead he clenched his teeth, his fist growing white around his cane as he tried to retain even a semblance of calm. And calm, even in its appearance, was certainly not one of Lucius' fortes.

“Yes?" Snape snarled.

"Draco is gone." It seemed all that he could bring himself to say, which didn't utilize a combination of hexes or curses, but finally he spit out: "Where did you send him? What did you tell him?"

Snape had a look of utter disgust when he heard those things slip from Lucius's mouth. It turned into utter rage when Lucius turned the blame on him.

"Well I'm sure I don't know!" He snarled. "Seeing as how I never sent him anywhere. All I did was have a mere chat with the boy last night! The only thing I could even think of as to why he would have gone out is for Bellatrix." He hissed and stalked                          back into his chambers somewhat inviting Lucius to follow him.

Lucius did follow Snape and when they both reached the very back of the room Sanpe showed Lucius some of Bella's journal entries about needing potion ingredients.

Snape's flippant dismissal of both his concern for his son and the obvious correlation which it had with what the former Professor had said to him enraged Lucius further. He barely seemed to notice as his old friend led him further into the room and displayed Bella's journal entries to him. His heart nearly arrested itself as he read Bella's plan and for the moment regret fleeted over him for his accusations of Snape. Of course, apologies had never come easily for either Lucius or Severus and so the distraught father chose to remain silent for the moment.

"Where is Bellatrix?" He reached a hand out towards Severus as almost an olive branch between old friends. "We need to find Draco."

"Why would I know Satan's love child is?" He spat. He despised the woman, and was sure Lucius was more than aware.  Snape rose from his chair, and headed towards the door. He figured Lucius wasn't going to let Snape rest until he found Draco. That was fine by him, as long as Bellatrix wasn't there. She'd probably get them killed.

Lucius followed Snape from his chambers, as the two men headed directly for Draco's room. Draco certainly wouldn't be happy to have the two men searching through his things, but at the moment, Lucius really didn't care. He would have sold his own soul to find his son, although many would have argued that he already had sold it in exchange for far less.

He glanced around the fairly spartan room and as he tore Draco's desk drawers open, he resisted the urge to demand whether or not Draco had told Severus about where he was going. If he had done so, Lucius knew that the man would not have withheld the information.

Snape waited by the door and watched Lucius rummage through Draco's things. He wasn't about to partake in that activity thank you. He tried to think of the many possible places Draco would have gone, when he notice Lucius looking rather impatiently at him.

Lucius stopped searching, a large red tube with the word 'Pringles' printed upon it in one hand, as he turned to face Severus.

"You're not going to help me find Draco?"  It was obvious that Draco had gone in search of some of the illusive ingredients which Bellatrix required and they would certainly not find out where he had gone without a further search of his things.

"I would have thought it was obvious he was at Longbottoms." He spat. "Where you even paying attention the Bellatrix's journal that I showed you?"

Lucius dropped the tube back to Draco's desk drawer and pushed it shut.

"Perhaps it is because I do not spend all my time with my nose in a potions text, but I was unaware that potions ingredients were invariably to be found in the Longbottom residence." Lucius sneered.

Snape glared at Lucius for a moment longer.   "Let us leave then."
