Colin cheerfully ran
through the schools halls, magically adhering a poster every few corridors
advertising the schools new newspaper The Weekly Diviner.
He stopped occassionally to take a picture of an interesting scene that might
make a good gossip article. Two of the jucier ones being a concerned looking
McGonagall, and a Slytherin and Ravenclaw holding hands.
Luca wandered down the hall, seeing the small
boy putting up fliers, and photographing students here and there. He smiled,
always ready for a picture, his mom joked about him somehow getting Gilderoy
Lockhart's blood in his veins somehow, the way he sought out attention.
Luca straightened his vest, polished a few of his charms on his neck and wrists
and tapped Colin on the shoulder.
"Pardon me, but vat it thees that you are advertising, some weekly
diviners group, no? For people who are in the class of Professor
Trelawny?"
Colin looked quizzically at the boy. He had a
bit of difficulty understanding him at first but realization quickly spread
over his features. "Oh! No, mate. It's the school newspaper I'm starting!
Are you new here?" By the time he was finished his sentence, he'd already
had his camera at the ready. "Maybe I could write an article about ya?
You're exchange right?"
Luca posed and grinned, adding a bit of
flourish, before realizing he was holding the pose he did in the carnival after
performing a stunt or some form of trick.
"No my friend, not exchange. I merely have not been the trying to be so
public. But eet is the time, no? For one to step forward and be seen now, you
see? Vas shy, yes but I vant to, how you say, show my support to my family at
the Hogwarts, perhaps I help you with thees paper of newness? It would be good
practice for written English, yes?"
Luca grinned, always the show off, trying to angle himself so the light
glimmered off his charms and jewels.
"You and me, we talk of this paper? I tell you storied of old
country and of what I see?"
"Yes, that'd be brilliant! I'm Colin by the
way," Colin snapped another quick picture, and held out his hand.
"Luca Moonstone, of the Moonstone Midnight
Carnival of Vonders!" Luca bowed,
jingling his bracelets for a slight tambourine effect, then grinning directly
at the camera. He took Creevey's hand and lowered his head. "A honor und privall-lage."
"Shall we go to the darkroom? I'll give ya
a camera, and you can get started." Colin was excited, and it showed in
his voice. He took off at a quick pace, and turned to make sure Luca followed.
"What sort of articles do you think you'd enjoy writing?"
"Perhaps of things I see and hear around
the school, no? Such dark times, some rumors I hear of wanting to leaving the
school? I myself do not have the worry, my people we have seen Dark Lords for
many generations, we are always on move. We do not fret. This, like all times
will pass." Luca smiled with a
genuine self-confidence. "This
You-Know-Voldemort, he is not of the scary to me. If he should come after my
family, we can escape, and if he truly tracks us down, we have our defenses. I
want to write on stories I see around this school. I am good at this, watching
and figuring out the truth."
Colin stood in disbelief at Luca's confidence in
his defenses. Obviously he hadn't heard the horror stories... or of the proper
way to say "You-Know-Who". "Yea, you can write for Slytherin if
you'd like. It would be good to have a writer for every house."
They arrived at the door that lead to the dark room. "Come on," he
said, his cheeriness seeping back into his voice. Once Luca had followed him
into the small room, he shut the door behind him. Colin fumbled along the wall
searching for the next door knob. Finally, he twisted it, and continued into
the next room. "Come along, mate."
He reached and turned on the red light to give Luca some direction, and
hopefully he wouldn't knock over anything.
Luca ducked in and looked around in the red
light, blinking a few times, but used to the darkness, it was the daytime that
truly bothered him.
"I am glad to be writing for my house, Slytherin may have respect for me
now. So many are mean to me. I am thinking of writing of the tragedy that
befalls our Ms. Weasley! Someone put explosive in her bag!"
Colin handed him some templates. "If you'd
rather write than take photographs let me know. Photo's are my specialty
anyways, not so much the writing," he smiled and handed him a camera.
"Please do try to fill me in on what you'll be writing about. Good
luck!"
