Hermione got up in a flash
and ran down to Mr. Weasley's office. 'Mr Weasley, may I?' She took his
pro-offered chair and sat down. The computer wasn't wrecked, only frozen and
running too many problems due to massive amounts of Pop-unders. She hit
ctrl-alt-del and got rid of most of the problem causers, allowing the virtual
memory to free up and the computer began moving again.
Arthur looked up from the computer to Hermione,
his chin nearly touching the floor in amazement.
"My dear! You are a genius!" He looked back to the screen and grinned
as everything seemed to be working normally again. "Brilliant! Absolutely
brilliant!" He mumbled, but forced himself to turn back to the main
conversation, before he got too wrapped up in it.
She smiled at Mr. Weasley
and went in the kitchen to find Ginny and Ron.
”Sorry I've been missing guys, I think I may be getting a bit ill. Been feeling
the need to sleep a lot.” She said sheepishly. Then she saw Harry and squealed.
“HARRY! You're here! OHMYGOD It's good to see you! How've you been?” She asked
gving him the world's largest hug.
Ron looked up as Hermione walked into the room.
Smiling at her, he nodded. "Don't worry about it. It's not like too much
has happened. Besides this wanker disappearing and then reappearing," he
said, motioning towards Harry.
"The letter," Molly said.
"Hermione, show Harry the letter you got. It concerns him more than any of
us."
“Which letter, Hermione?”
Hermione nodded as she fumbled with her pocket
and produced the small scrap of paper. “I received this by owl. There's no name
attached, but it's still something to take pretty seriously.”
“May I see?” Harry asked.
“Yeah, here you go.” She said breathlessly
handing it over. “I can't think of a way to analyze the handwriting and the
owl's already left, so I can't run a tracking spell on it...”
Bellatrix has found a way to retrieve the Black Family
Fortune. Grimmauld Place is no longer
safe.
~B
“Oh dear, dear,” Harry said. “Who do you think wrote it?”
“Ummm... Not really. Who that knows Bellatrix
would tell me of all people. If it were the Order, then they'd mention a name!”
Hermione paced back and forth, wringing her hands.
“Wait a minute a ~B as signature...? It can only
mean two things, either Bellatrix is setting a trap for us, or it might be
Regulus Black, himself!”
Hermione looked at him exasperated. “Harry,
Regulus Black is dead. Sirius told you, Slughorn told you, his death
notice is in old Prophets in the library, he didn't write me this note.
He wouldn't know I exist. You maybe since Sirius was your Godfather, but not
me. If it is a trap, then we should alert the Order and not rush head-first
into things…” She said sinking into a chair.
“Well then...” Harry said. “I know that it was
not Bellatrix, ´cause she ain’t that clever. So it might have been Bill! The
name is the key, not the surname...”
“Why would Bill send an anonymous tip? Why even
bother telling me? Why not just tell his Mum and Dad?” she asked leaning
against Ron's lap.
"Harry, if this person is trying to conceal
their identity, don't you think it's possible the letter 'B' might not have
anything to do with their name?" said Molly. "In fact, it might be
intentionally misleading. Naturally, I'm curious who wrote it, but I think the
important thing is to be cautious. Whether or not the writer is on our side,
it's obvious they know something about Grimmauld place, and it's connection to
the Order."
“Thank you Mrs. Weasley.” Hermione sighed from
her place on Ron's lap, thankful for a sensible mind.
"Very well said, Molly." Arthur smiled
from his computer chair. "Although, perhaps someone in the Order would be
able to get somewhere with the letter. Mad-Eye maybe? Or Tonks?"
